Who We Are

EC Montreal Language School is a hub for language learning located in the heart of Montreal, welcoming students from around the world to dive into English and French in one of Canada’s most vibrant, bilingual cities. The school prides itself on offering a blend of classroom learning and local cultural immersion, helping students explore language through real-world experiences in Montreal.

But while EC Montreal promotes an engaging, student-focused environment, there’s a side of the story that often goes unseen—the teachers and staff who make this experience possible have been facing issues of unpredictable hours, inadequate benefits, and limited input in school decisions. That’s where the General Union steps in.

The General Union is a grassroots, Montreal-based union dedicated to building worker power through principles of solidarity, mutual respect, and collective action. We're here to make sure that the voices of EC Montreal’s teachers and staff are heard and respected. We're standing up for rights to fair pay, sustainable workloads, safe workplaces, and the opportunity for educators to shape the policies that impact their day-to-day work.
